The Becker bunch and their every day trials and tribulations x 7!

Growing from 4 to 7 in just ten days has proven to be both challenging, enlightening, frustrating, overwhelming and most often pretty funny. It is always better to laugh than to cry!

Feels a bit stupid.

Mr. Jensen put up the world's greatest swing. The dirt patch below is 7 years old. Whoever buys this house, Well, THEY ARE STUCK WITH IT!

Brownell Talbot and Duchesne Academy are each 22 miles away from our lovely home in Fort Calhoun. Ten years ago when we bought this little craftsman bungalow it was a two bedroom, one bath, no shower, scary basement, fitlhy fixer upper. I knew for years before,it was gonna be mine.

You see through two pregnancies I walked with a friend,at first carrying a child in the form of a moderately cute 'baby bump' and then pushing a stroller with another baby bump. Always the same route, passing this cute bungalow. My heart swelled every time we passed it. I am not making this stuff up. I loved this little house. I dreamed of decorating it for Christmas and raising a family in it. I didn't know who lived here.

When it came time to move from my mother's home we looked in Omaha. We couldn't afford much and that was the year 2000, housing bubble forming. We saw home with Danger stickers on the front door and they were selling for 90,000. A friend called a friend called a friend and my mother came to me with news that a house in Calhoun was for sale but not on the market, did we want to go look.

It was my bungalow and Carol Sprick chose to sell it to my family. It took us 3 weeks of cleaning and painting before it was ready to live in. Ten years later it has 2 1/2 baths, 4 bedrooms, a family room and lovely den.

And this in the yard.

The commute takes an hour or more of our lives, leaves our twins in town much longer than they need be, is the driving factor in how we choose extracurriculars. Begins and Ends our days with crabbiness no matter what we try.

I don't know where we will go. Neighborhood is the top of the list. Room for us all a close second. Some place that speaks to my heart would be nice. Some place where a Saturday project is like the ones they show on Home Depot and Ace Hardware commercials; people smile and finish at the end of one day.

All I know is that everyone here is on board with this move. Everyone. Even #2. I really thought she would hold out, but no she is ready.

Mr. Jensen brought yet another batch of donuts to us this afternoon. He said, ' I saw your sign but I didn't take it down. I hope your house doesn't sell.'

I guess there is some one who understands exactly how I feel.

  1. I know that the Bungalow in the Gateway will be passed on to someone as wonderful as you. Its not a house. Its not a home. Its a Tribute to Love.

  3. Then STAY. But I know you want to leave. Or at least EXPLORE the possibility of leaving and staying.

    It's all good.
