The Becker bunch and their every day trials and tribulations x 7!

Growing from 4 to 7 in just ten days has proven to be both challenging, enlightening, frustrating, overwhelming and most often pretty funny. It is always better to laugh than to cry!

Sick

A family of 7 doesn't wonder if there will be illness. A family of 7 knows illness is coming and when it gets in the house it will make the rounds at least twice till all members have been plagued. Normally we get hit in February.

Bruiser doesn't do normal. She decided, OK, so she didn't decide, she just got nailed with the crud in December. The 10 days before Christmas actually.

My poor dear girl began with a gunky nose. Then a cough. Then a high fever spike followed by a trip to the Dr. Double ear infection and sinus infection. We got the drugs. Two days later Bruiser was not well, but Mr. Man was down with the crud. More drugs.

Another visit to the Dr. for Bruiser. To prove my point about her hydration and her terrible cough she coughed till she gagged and puked in the Dr.'s office. They gave us more meds.

Mr Man recovered and became a raging terror trapped in the house. Since it was a Friday we decided to keep him at home and let the daycare be spared his cough. Bruiser was no where near well enough for school.

Mr Man went back to school on Monday, Bruiser and I went to Children's Hospital ER. Yep, sick kid. Nope not this or that or this ... many tests and x rays later... Bronchiolitis. hmmmm. Viral. Needs to run its course. Keep doing what you are doing. BAH HUM BUG!

Two more days. Bruiser not well. Another trip to the Dr. They didn't charge me my office visit pay. They had seen me too much. New drugs and a nebulizer. Very cool breathing machine. Bruiser does it like a pro. No arguments.

By Friday the 23rd she was emerging as the real Bruiser, not the fake one that had been laying still on the couch for more than a week. The house is no longer quiet. But I have never enjoyed her sass like I do today after not hearing it for a week.

Now if I could just kick the cough and if Thomas can fight it off, we just might recover enough to enjoy our holiday break.
