The Becker bunch and their every day trials and tribulations x 7!

Growing from 4 to 7 in just ten days has proven to be both challenging, enlightening, frustrating, overwhelming and most often pretty funny. It is always better to laugh than to cry!

Somewhere in the Middle...

Somewhere in the middle of:

moving

planning

raising 5 kids

preparing for the upcoming school year

Total chaos

But most importantly tonight I found myself exactly in the middle of continuum of woman hood.

On the left my fairy Godmother; she who will do anything for me and all with a flare for style and princess cell phone in hand. She entered our house Saturday night with supplies from Whole Foods and a trunkful of explosives. I drink too much when I am near her. I laugh to much too. Sometimes I create, sometimes plan, sometimes I just laugh.

On my right is Peace like a River, my dear friend who shows up with more chaos than I have and teaches me to let it run its course. Even a river overflowing its banks leaves behind some good; it is this way with children as they romp and run and learn. Peace like a River flows in to my every nook and cranny and reminds me what is important and to pray. I laugh when I am near her. Sometimes I create, sometimes plan, sometimes share and learn, sometimes just laugh.

Neither side judges me. I am too square to be fully on the left and too square to be fully on the right. These women round my edges when they come in to my life and even poke a few holes, make a few cracks allowing peace and joy and love to enter my squareness. I am fulfilled by the friendships. Filled up.

As I say good bye to the bungalow Sunday night reminded me of everything I love about the house. I love it full to the brim with chaos and love and finding myself smack in the middle of it all.

These lovely special women helped me to see that the Grant St house will have all that too. They will see to it. I am blessed in my friendships and yes, once again, so very grateful.

  1. Peace Like a River is a GREAT name for your Dear Friend.

We had fun, no? We blew stuff up and laughed. The mosquitoes feasted from our flesh.

And Friendship remains the most important thing in the world.
